Overview
Toss a Coin ("the App") is designed with your privacy as a priority. This policy explains how we handle your data.
The short version: We don't operate servers or collect your data. Your data is stored locally on your device and communicated directly to YNAB and AI services for receipt processing.
Data Storage
All data processed by Toss a Coin is stored locally on your device. This includes:
- Your YNAB access token (used to communicate with YNAB's API)
- Cached budget and account information
- App preferences and settings
We do not operate servers that store or process your personal data. The App communicates directly with YNAB's API from your device.
YNAB Integration
Toss a Coin uses the YNAB API to access your budget information. When you authorize the App:
- You authenticate directly with YNAB using OAuth
- The access token is stored only on your device
- All API requests go directly from your device to YNAB's servers
- We never see, store, or have access to your YNAB credentials or data

Data We Don't Collect
We (the App developers) do not collect or store:
- Personal identification information
- Financial data or transaction history
- Usage analytics or telemetry
- Device identifiers
- Location data
Note: While we don't collect this data, receipt images and transaction details you choose to process are sent directly from your device to third-party AI services. Please refer to the privacy policies of those services for information on how they handle data.
Third-Party Services
The App communicates directly from your device with the following third-party services:
- YNAB API: To access and update your budget information
- AI Services: To process receipts and categorize transactions. When you use receipt scanning features, images of receipts, category names, and receipt information may be sent to third-party AI providers for processing
All communication happens directly from your device to these services. We do not operate intermediary servers, and we do not use any analytics, advertising, or tracking services.
Data Deletion
Since all data is stored locally on your device, you can delete all App data by:
- Uninstalling the App
- Clearing the App's data through your device settings
To revoke the App's access to your YNAB account, visit your YNAB Authorized Applications settings.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date.
